Which lakes are the deepest after Tippecanoe?

Which lakes are in the Barbee Chain?

Seven connected lakes — Big Barbee Lake, Little Barbee Lake, Kuhn Lake, Irish Lake, Sechrist Lake, Sawmill Lake and Banning Lake — about 849 acres combined.

Which Barbee Chain lake has no 10 mph limit?

Big Barbee Lake is the only lake in the Barbee Chain without the 10 mph limit. The other six are 10 mph at all times.

Which lakes are connected to Lake Tippecanoe?

James Lake (Little Tippy) flows into Tippecanoe from the east, Oswego Lake sits at the west end, and Grassy Creek brings water from the Barbee Chain.

Is Lake Wawasee connected to Syracuse Lake?

Yes. Syracuse Lake is connected to Lake Wawasee by a channel. Papakeechie Lake flows into Wawasee but is not boat-connected.

Papakeechie Lake, a private lake south of Wawasee, lists no motorized boats.

Which lake has an afternoon open-boating window?

Beaver Dam Lake lists open boating from 1 to 4 pm, with 10 mph before and after.

Which lakes had the clearest water readings?

Lake Tippecanoe had the clearest reading of all county lakes sampled in 2022 (15 ft), and Dewart Lake was described in 2021 as among the clearest sampled. Yellow Creek Lake's clarity improved more than 2 ft between 2020 and 2022.

What is the Dixie?

The Dixie is Indiana's oldest sternwheel paddleboat. It has operated on Webster Lake since 1929 and has been on the National Register of Historic Places since 2009.

How was Webster Lake formed?

Webster Lake (about 653 acres) was created in 1837, when a dam joined several smaller lakes.

What was Lake Wawasee originally called?

It was formerly called Turkey Lake, and is named for the Miami chief Wawasee.
